Description: Archeological buildings Cairo University (formerly Fouad I University), is one of the largest and most prestigious contemporary Egyptian and Arab universities. Its faculties were established during the era of Muhammad Ali in 1816. In 1908, widespread popular demands arose for the establishment of a modern university led by Mustafa Kamel and other Egyptian patriots. The university was founded under the name of the Egyptian University, and it was headed by Ahmed Lotfy El-Sayed. Cairo University is known for its famous clocks that have stood tall for more than 80 years since it was founded in 1937, as it is considered the oldest and most famous clock in the world after Big Ben in Britain.
