The Hanging Church is considered one of the most important and famous antiquities of Coptic Egypt for being the first place the Virgin Lady entered. The restoration process continued for more than 16 years included the architectural and construction aspects with a total cost more than LE 101 million. The effects resulting from the increase in the water table were treated through a comprehensive project to reduce the water table.
The project included the restoration of the frescoes and icons, modernization of the security system by providing the church with surveillance cameras, securing and monitoring its entrances, installation of central air conditioning to stabilize temperature and humidity of the church, maintenance, landscaping works for the entries and the general site to restore its archaeological origin.
