El Minya and Al Shorafa Villages Wastewater Project - Egypt

The main contractor: The Arab Contractors (Osman Ahmed Osman & Co.), Helwan Branch.
Owner Consultant: The Development Research and Technological Planning Center at Cairo University.

Project Description: 

- El Minya village lifting station: (40,000 m3/day) a manhole of 15 m, and service buildings.
-Drainage lines in El Minya village include gravity pipelines with a length of 16.44 km.
- Force mains from the El Minya village lifting station to the treatment plant (contract 5) with a length of 4.3 km are made of cast iron pipes with a diameter of 800 mm.

- Al Shorafa lifting station: (15000 m3/day), a manhole 5 m & service buildings.
- Drainage lines in Al Shorafa village include gravity pipelines spanning 20.2 km.
- Force mains from Al Shorafa village lifting station to El Minya lifting station with a length of 3.5 km cast iron pipes 450 mm.

- Crossing beneath Al Hagger canal in El Minya village, with a length of 30 m, for the force main 800 mm.
- Crossing beneath El Khashab canal and El Saff road in Helwan for the gravity pipeline, 600mm with a length of 60 m. Work is suspended due to the lack of land expropriation for the implementation of the lifting and receptor chambers.
