Al Azbakeya Garden is one of the oldest gardens in Cairo, and is the only green space in the Khedivial Cairo Plan. The project aims to revive this ancient garden as a breathing space and a park for Cairo residents. The development works include restoring the architectural value of the buildings in the garden, in addition to accommodating the book kiosks adjoining to the garden walls, given their importance to visitors, by adopting a model for a unified kiosk that will be implemented on the garden's outer wall to accommodate the currently licensed kiosks. The revitalization project of Al Azbakeya Garden includes (the lake – the archaeological fountain – the Roman theater – the pergola – the cafeteria – the restaurant – the walls and other works), and the development addresses 3 axes, which are: preserving valuable heritage trees and the hill area, in addition to renovating some components of the garden such as the archaeological fountain, the Fencing Club and reviving the lake, the open theatre, the cafeteria building, the walls and the heritage pergolas. Besides, the construction of walls around the entire garden, and implementing 4 gates on the wall, taking into account the historical dimension in the design of the walls and gates.
