The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities is participating in the restoration process to preserve the archaeological style of the barrage that was built 150 years ago. Besides, the rehabilitation of water facilities (first phase) which include replacing and renewing the Moise Sea Mouth Barrage, (5) drains, (3) covering drainage, (6) manholes, (47) end-of-canal facilities, and (257) gates. The project aims to develop and modernize the gates as one of the tools for developing the irrigation system 2.0 as a step to distribute water based on disposals instead of levels. It is worth noting that the project was approved due to the old construction of the Mouth of the Moise Sea Mouth Barrage since 1988 and the deterioration of its structural condition, and it is considered the main source of fresh water in the governorates of Sharqia, Ismailia and Port Said.
