Developing Cairo/Alexandria Desert Road and transferring it into a freeway (the7th Sector) from Kilo 190 to the intersection with El Ta’meer axis (Carrefour) at Kilo 220 of Cairo/Alexandria Road. The work includes upgrading the bridges located in this sector of (Al Ameriya Bridge - Margham Bridge - Abu El Kheir Bridge - Borg El Arab Entrance Bridge – Al Agamy Entrance Bridge). The works implemented in the seventh sector included Road widening by implementing two new lanes in each direction to have 4 lanes in each direction, modifying the longitudinal and transverse slopes of the road according to the engineering design of the road and according to the specifications, modifying and improving the efficiency of the U-turn locations, expanding the surface of 10 bridges, constructing alternative bridges, constructing 2 overhead bridges, one at the entrance to Borg Al Arab and the other at the entrance to Al Agamy, expanding and improving the efficiency of 3 overhead bridges currently located along the road path, and constructing 5 pedestrian bridges. The steel sections for the bridges, which weigh 12 thousand tons, were also manufactured at the Arab Contractors workshops.
