This phase began on 7/7/2007 and opened on February 21, 2012.
Line 3
It is an underground line with 5km length of 5 km and 9.8m diameter of 9.8 m, linking the maintenance workshops with abbassia; it passes through 5 stations… starting from Abbassia, Abdou Pasha, Bab El Shaaria and Attaba station, which is considered a connection between Line 2 and Line 3.
The Arab Contractors Company implemented the civil works, finishing, and electromechanical installation works in partnership with the biggest French companies Vinci, Bouygues, Colas Rail, Alstom, and the Egyptian company Orascom.
Line 3 extends from Imbaba and El Mohandseen under the Nile bottom down to Adly Mansour Interchange Station.
Its importance is due to the fact that it is the first cross-axis to make the connection between the east and west of Cairo. It achieves interconnection with the various modes of transport through:
Nasser Station: Connect with the first line.
The two stations, Attaba and Cairo University, make a connection with Line 2.
Adly Mansour Station: Connection with the LRT (Al-Salam, 10th of Ramadan, the New Administrative Capital).
Wady El Nil Station: Provides exchange service with Monorail of West Nile.
Stadium Station: The service will be exchanged with Monorail of East Nile.
It is 41.2 km long and has 34 stations (21 underground stations, 2 at-grade stations, and 11 elevated stations).
