General Hassan Abdel Shafi - Managing Director of the Military Engineers Department, Gen. Emad Saafan - Assistant Manager of Military Engineers and Eng. Mohsen Salah - Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company toured the work progress of Middle Ring Road in Helwan intersections with a total length 5km which is carried out by the Arab Contractors Company under the supervision of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces. This project is one of the most important under construction axes as a horizontal one linking between Ain Soukhna Road and Misr/Fayoum Desert Road.
Eng. Mohsen Salah stated that the project consists 4 sectors; the 1st sector includes the tunnel of the intersection of the Middle Ring Road with the Autostrad of 60 m length and 55 m width.and 5 traffic lanes on each side using crossing piles wall system and the tunnel ceil is based upon it internally; and the retaining wall system outside the tunnel.
The 2nd Sector includes the intersection of the Middle Ring Road with Metro with 750 ml (including inlet, 2 outlets with a length of 525m) and width of 45 m by using Boxspans system in addition to a 60m steel span above the Metro.
The 3rd Sector includes El Masaken Bridge (Ezbet Al Walda) with 1250 m length (including 2 inlets, 2 outlets) and width 45 m. and 4 lanes on each sides above El Nasr for Cars Street, this by using precast beams.
The 4th Sector includes bridge intersection of the Middle Ring Road with the River Nile with a 590 ml and including 4 lanes, inlet and outlet for 525 m length on each side to link between El Fayoum Desert Road and Autostrad with a width of 45 m using Cantilever Carriage system. Eng. Salah declared that this project is passing by an area stuffed with many utilities and its diversion is ongoing through the relevant authorities and by the fully support Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces. The tour includes the visit of the 2nd of Rod El Farg Axis. Currently the works is undergoing on the East Sector in El Mazallat. It is the widest Cable-Stayed Bridge in the world; and the largest navigational slot across the Nile which is up to 300m. The Cable-Stayed Bridge is based on 6 columns; 3 columns in the East and the same in the Western side. The columns rise 100 m and on a base of 80 piles with 2m diameter and 46m depth. The bridge capacity is up to 120 tons. The bridge will be recorded in Guinness World Records for its being the widest bridge worldwide.

Heba Abul Ella – Deputy Manager of Bridges Department and a number of the AC leaders.
