-El Gazzar: Egyptian companies winning international awards reflects an international testimony to the success of the Egyptian will in implementing giant projects in various fields and in record time. Dr. Assem El Gazzar - Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, praised the announcement by the American magazine “Engineering News-Record" that the Arab Contractors Company won two new international awards in the “Global Best Projects 2023” competition for the best environmental project and the best water and wastewater project of the year.Dr. Assem El Gazzar stressed that Egyptian companies winning successive international awards reflects an international testimony to the success of the Egyptian will in implementing giant projects in various fields and in record time, which contributes to achieving a rapid development boom and establishing a new republic in which the Egyptian people have a decent life. Dr. Assem El Gazzar congratulated the Arab Contractors Company and wished continued success and progress to the company and its workers in serving Egypt. The Minister also extended his sincere congratulations to the two authorities, “the Armed Forces Engineering Authority and the Construction Authority for Potable Water and Wastewater (CAPW), regarding their distinguished effort in supervising and following up on the 2 projects.Eng. Ahmed El Assar – CEO and Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company, pointed out that Alexandria East Wastewater Treatment Plant, supervised by the Construction Authority for Potable Water and Wastewater (CAPW), which the Arab Contractors is implementing, succeeded in seizing the award for the Best Global Environmental Project, as it attracted the attention of the jury with its pioneering ideas for recycling and treating the resulting sludge using digesters, maximizing its utilization, and using it to produce methane gas to generate electrical power that covers 50% of the station’s needs instead of transporting it to public landfills, which previously caused many environmental problems.Eng. Ahmed El Assar added that the New Delta Water Treatment Plant for agricultural wastewater, supervised by the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, and the Arab Contractors Company is implementing it, won the award for the Best Global Water and Wastewater Project, as the plant has already achieved 4 records in the Guinness World Records, the most important of which is the world largest water treatment plant with a capacity of 7.5 million m3/day. The New Delta Water Treatment Plant is considered one of the most important national projects that have been implemented recently, as water is taken from the surplus of the old Delta’s agriculture to enter canals with a length of 174 km in the heart of the Western Desert of Egypt, which is the largest artificial river in the world, until the wastewater reaches the New Delta Water Treatment Plant to begin the treatment process at the station, then it is used in agriculture again, as the Egyptian state aims to cultivate two million feddans in the New Delta area, and it will help in many existing industries in the region include the dairy, packaging, livestock and poultry products, fish freezing and packaging factories, which will help provide more than two million job opportunities for the people of the region by 2025.The American "Engineering News-Record" magazine is significant because it is specialized in covering news and conducting professional analyses on construction projects all over the world, making it one of the most trusted periodicals in the construction industry.
