Eng. Mohsen Salah - AC Chairman announced the completion of
the company's works in one of the directions of El Nahda Tunnel Project in Giza
with a length of 550m. The project includes 3 tunnels with a total length 1700m
and 7m width. The project is about a tunnel with 850m length for the coming
from El Galaa Square to Giza Square; a tunnel with total length 550m to the
coming from Giza Square to Dokki and a tunnel with total length 300m for coming
from El Galaa Square to Cairo University. Eng. Mohsen Salah pointed out that
the project aims to solve the problem of traffic congestion in Nahdet Misr Square
and the cancellation of intersections. He added that the project faced many
obstacles as the existence of water and wastewater networks, telephones and medium
voltage cables along the road width, which required the establishment of new
lines. In addition to these, the project is located in a highly traffic area
which is continues throughout the year due to the presence of many foreign
embassies, hotels, Cairo University, Giza Security Directorate, Fire Fighting
Authority, Giza Zoo, Orman Park and many administrative buildings; for its
being one of the main links between Giza Square and a number of area and districts.
Eng. Mohsen stated that the coordination and cooperation between the AC Company
and all the authorities including the Central Authority for Reconstruction, the
Greater Cairo Reconstruction Authority, Giza Governorate and Giza Traffic
Department led to the implementation of the works without cutting off the facilities
from the buildings in the area and facilitating the operation of vehicles in
the square. The executed part of the tunnel will put into operation for the coming
from El Galaa Square to Giza Square, the AC will accomplish the whole project by
the end of this year.
