Ain Shams University opens the 5th International Conference about Heritage Cities

Prof. Dr. Mohamed Diaa El Din Zein El Abidin - President of Ain Shams University inaugurated the 5th International Conference entitled "Heritage Cities: A New Vision Between Authenticity and Innovation," held 7-8 December at the Faculty of Archaeology. The opening ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Amani Osama Kamel - Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research; Prof. Dr. Hossam Tantawy - Dean of the Faculty of Archaeology; Prof. Dr. Ahmed El Shawky - Vice Dean of the Faculty for Graduate Studies and Research; and a select group of researchers and specialists in the field of heritage and urban preservation. Representing the Arab Contractors Company at the conference were Eng. Mohamed Elwi - Board Member, Eng. Hany Maher - Manager of Palaces and Monuments Restoration Department, and Eng. Hassan Ibrahim - Projects Manager at the Department. In his address at the conference, Eng. Mohamed Elwi explained that the company's participation in this scientific event stems from its national mission, spanning more than 4 decades, to protect and preserve Egyptian heritage through a specialized department for the restoration and maintenance of historical buildings. He pointed out that the company has implemented numerous prominent heritage preservation projects throughout its history, most notably the Relocation of King Ramses II Statue from Ramses Square to the Grand Egyptian Museum, as well as the transfer of 84 colossal artifacts for display in the museum's Grand Hall. He also mentioned the restoration of numerous Islamic and Coptic monuments and the development of major mosques and places of worship. Eng. Mohamed Elwi concluded his remarks by reaffirming Arab Contractors’ continued commitment to protecting Egyptian heritage, in cooperation with the country’s scientific and cultural institutions, in support of national identity and the preservation of the legacy of future generations.
