Today, Al Athrun tourist area witnessed the opening of Wadi Markus Bridge, the vital link between the city of Derna and the cities and regions west of it, after the completion of the comprehensive construction works implemented by Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund, through the Arab Contractors Company. The project was inaugurated by Eng. Belqasim Khalifa Haftar – the General Director of Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund, in the presence of a number of prominent national figures, led by His Excellency Counselor Aguila Saleh - the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Lieutenant General Abdul Razzaq Al Nazuri - the Chief of the General Staff, Dr. Osama Hammad - the Prime Minister of the Libyan Government, a number of members of the House of Representatives and ministers in the Libyan government, the Council of Elders of the city of Derna and Al Athrun region, engineers from the Reconstruction Fund for Derna and the Affected Cities and Areas, and engineers from Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund. The opening was attended by Eng. Anas Al Sagheer - Sector Head, Supervisor of the Arab Contractors Company’s Branch in Libya, Eng. Ahmed Abdel Fattah - Libya Branch Manager, and a large number of project workers. Wadi Markus Bridge project is one of the first projects implemented by the Arab Contractors Company within Libya reconstruction projects. It is considered one of the vital projects that contribute to enhancing communication between cities and supporting development and reconstruction efforts in the affected areas. It reflects the Fund’s interest in developing vital infrastructure and public roads according to the highest standards to achieve a sustainable future for the country.
