The Prime Minister said that “Egypt’s Vision 2030” is based on the principles of “comprehensive sustainable development” that reflect its three dimensions: the economic dimension, the social dimension, and the environmental dimension, pointing out that energy is the main pillar for achieving Egypt’s Vision 2030 and achieving comprehensive development in various societies. It is also the artery of development in various areas of life—economic and social—in addition to being one of the most important pillars of Egyptian national security, as development plans in all fields are linked to the state’s ability to provide the energy resources necessary to implement those plans. Dr. Moustafa Madbouly added that perhaps the energy crisis that the world is currently witnessing confirms the validity of Egypt’s vision and strategy regarding energy and diversifying its sources, and that its institutions, under the guidance of the wise political leadership, have the ability to predict the future of energy in the world that enhances its global position and regional and international influence. Egypt’s Vision 2030 gives importance to confronting the effects of climate change through the existence of an integrated and sustainable environmental system that enhances flexibility and the ability to confront natural risks. The Prime Minister explained that “Egypt Vision 2030” also preserves development and the environment together through the rational use of resources in a way that preserves the rights of future generations to a more secure and sufficient future. This is achieved by confronting the effects of climate change, enhancing the ability of ecosystems to adapt, the ability to confront risks and natural disasters, increasing reliance on renewable energy, and adopting sustainable consumption and production patterns. The Prime Minister said that based on the above, nuclear energy and its peaceful uses play a pivotal role in implementing the sustainable development goals and considered one of the most important components of providing the energy and water needed to ensure sustainable development in Egypt. Besides, it is the basic pillar for achieving environmental sustainability, as clean energy that does not produce any carbon emissions and contributes effectively to overcoming the phenomenon of global warming and reducing climate change, the problem that is currently troubling the entire world. Dr. Moustafa Madbouly pointed out that Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant lies at the heart of the three dimensions of sustainable development, starting with the quality of life of the Egyptian citizen and ending with the Egyptian state reaching a leading position, noting that Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant, in addition to being an electricity generation project, is the basis for achieving the state’s vision for sustainable development, its goals, and various dimensions.
