Lieutenant General Eng. Kamel Al Wazir - Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, explained the details of Cairo Metro Line 3 winning the Arab Excellence Award as the best project for developing infrastructure. CML3 is the first transverse artery linking East and West Greater Cairo and linking all components of the electric traction rail network (metro network, monorail lines, and LRT). CML3-Phase3 extends north to the interchange station at Rod El Farag axis, and south to Cairo University station. The length of CML3-Phase3 is 17.7 km and includes 15 stations (8 underground - 5 elevated - 2 surface) that have been implemented and operated with passengers in three phases. After the opening of CML3-Phase3, it will be fully operated with a length of 41.2 km and 34 stations (21 underground - 2 surface - 11 elevated). The passenger transport service is exchanged between Line3 and Line 1 at Nasser station, and with Line 2 at Attaba and Cairo University stations. The CML3 includes 3 workshops for overhaul and maintenance of the operating mobile units, divided into: Abbassia workshops on an area of ??10 feddans, Imbaba workshops on 24 feddans, where light overhaul of trains is carried out, and Salam workshops, which are considered one of the largest workshops in the Middle East and Africa, located on an area of ??65 feddans and dedicated to light and heavy overhaul of trains. The passenger transport capacity of CML3 is 1.5 million passengers/day. The CML3 includes a fleet of 80 air-conditioned trains. The implementation of Line 3 took into account that the line is suitable for its users with disabilities. Then, the President inaugurated the Alternative Axis for Aswan Reservoir, which is a vital project aimed at improving transportation between different regions in Egypt and is part of the Egyptian government’s efforts to enhance infrastructure and economic development in Upper Egypt. The project aims at supporting new development in West Nile, as it connects residential, industrial, and agricultural areas, facilitating the movement of citizens and enhancing development projects. The axis is expected to contribute to linking the road network east and west of the Nile River, which will contribute to achieving comprehensive development in Upper Egypt. It is one of the transverse Nile axes that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi directed to implement to reduce the distances between the Nile axes so that crossing opportunities between the east and west of the Nile reach 25km and to serve development projects and new urban communities. The axis contributes to transferring traffic from the body of the reservoir to the new axis to preserve the reservoir and extend its lifespan. It is a concrete bridge over the Nile consisting of 14 axes, 676m long and 29m wide, consisting of 3 lanes in each direction, and the width of the navigational opening is 180m. The Arab Contractors Company implemented the second sector of the Alternative Axis for Aswan Reservoir under the supervision of the Ministry of Transport and the General Authority for Roads and Bridges. The President also inaugurated Ganbaway Bridge in Beheira Governorate, which was implemented by the company and comes within the development of Cairo/Alexandria Agricultural Road by eliminating surface intersections and relieving traffic congestion in that area. It is 900m long, with 3 traffic lanes in each direction, with a total width of 24m, in addition to a surface road with a length of 1 km, with 3 traffic lanes in each direction.
