The Arab Contractors Company has completed the installation of the main beams of the last steel span in Manqabad Overpass Bridge in Assiut, above Cairo-Aswan railway lines, within 3 hours, which is a record time, without affecting the movement of trains and with full adherence to safety procedures. The length of the steel span is 34m, with a total weight of 175 tons, using a 400-ton crane. It is the last span to be implemented in the project, through cooperation between Assiut branch, Central Workshops and Factories Department, Equipment Hiring Department, and Heavy Transport Department. Eng. Moustafa Abdel Maksoud – Assiut Branch Manager and Eng. Moustafa Abdullah - Project Manager stated that the project is being implemented under the supervision of the General Authority for Roads and Bridges and Egyptian National Railways. Thus, the implementation rate of the project reached 92%. The implementation is being carried out according to the time schedule, and the work is compressed to accomplish the project. It is worth mentioning that the project is being implemented to achieve the targeted plan of Assiut Governorate to solve the problem of railway crossings, serve the city of Manqabad and the surrounding villages, and eliminate congestion at the entrance to the city. The length of the bridge, including the exists and entries, is 1900m long and 16.70m wide, passing over the railway lines (Cairo - High Dam) and over the waterway of Ibrahimia Canal.
