His Excellency President of Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, esteemed Cabinet Ministers, and the Mayor of Addu City witnessed the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the bridge project connecting Hithadhoo to Hulhudhoo-Meedhoo in Addu City.
In his speech, President of Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu expressed his thanks for the support of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi - President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the Egyptian government to consolidate relations and bonds of joint cooperation between the two countries. He also thanked the Arab Contractors Company, one of the largest national companies owned by the Egyptian state, for implementing this project. The President indicated that the project will be awarded to the Arab Contractors Company.
The President emphasized that this is one of the significant projects pledged by the Administration and noted that the expenses for the design and feasibility of the bridge will be funded by grants. He revealed that the project will be initiated this year and completed within four years. He additionally relayed his hope for the project to contribute towards enhancing Addu City’s economic prospects.
The MoU was signed by the Maldivian Minister of Construction and Infrastructure, Dr. Abdulla Mutalib, and Eng. Heba Abul Ela – Board Member of the Arab Contractors Company, who conveyed the greetings and welcome of the company’s Board of Directors to assist the Maldivian government in fulfilling this commitment in the most cost-effective, socially responsible, and environmentally sustainable manner. noting that Addu City Bridge will be the largest in the Maldives, as it connects Hithadhoo and Hulhumeedhoo.
