Dr. Assem El Gazzar - Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, stated that the Arab Contractors Company won 7 awards for its work on various projects at MEED International Competition to evaluate the best engineering projects in the Middle East. Eng. Ahmed El Assar – CEO and Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company, explained that the first award was in the development projects category, as Maspero Triangle Development Project won first rank in Egypt, which is being implemented by the Ministry of Housing, represented by the New Urban Communities Authority, through an elite group of national contracting companies headed by the Arab Contractors Company. The second award came in the category of road axis projects, where the Lt. Gen. Kamal Amer Axis in Giza won the first rank in Egypt and is being implemented by the Arab Contractors Company with some national companies, under the supervision and planning of the Ministry of Housing represented by the Central Authority for Reconstruction. Eng. Ahmed Al-Assar added that the third award is in the category of small projects with a value of less than US$ 50 million, where Tahrir Square Development project took first rank in Egypt and was implemented by the Arab Contractors Company under the supervision of the Ministry of Housing, represented by the New Urban Communities Authority, while the fourth award was in the water projects category, where the New Delta Water Treatment Plant project won first rank in Egypt and was implemented through a JV between the Arab Contractors Company and some national companies, under the supervision of the Ministry of Irrigation and the Armed Forces Engineering Authority. The Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company pointed out that the fifth award was in the category of social and educational projects, where the Technological Innovation Center project at Cairo University won first rank. It was designed and implemented by the Arab Contractors Company under the supervision of the Ministry of Communications. The sixth and seventh awards came in the category of construction projects, where the New Senate Headquarters project in the New Administrative Capital won first rank and was implemented by the Arab Contractors Company, along with Meerad Tower, which won first rank in Qatar.
