The Arab Contractors Company, through its river shipyard in Lake Nasser in Aswan, was able to lift one of the largest tourist floating hotels to carry out periodic maintenance, repair, and rehabilitation, according to technical studies, tensile equipment, and airbags, and under foreign supervision prepared by Ezz Industries.
The importance of this process lies in the use of modern methods for the first time in Egypt, which is the use of airbags to lift the floating hotel, and this new engineering solution constitutes an opportunity for floating hotels that allow all periodic maintenance to be carried out within Aswan Governorate, which saves time and expenses as an alternative to the use of traditional cranes.
The weight of the floating hotel is 3,000 tons, with a length of 109 meters, a width of 15.5 meters, and a height of 15.5 meters, equivalent to 4 floors. 21 airbags with a diameter of 1.5 meters and a length of 20 meters were used in this process, in addition to special winches with a tensile strength of 380 tons.
It is noteworthy that the floating hotels represent an important tourist attraction in the field of Egyptian tourism, where tourists can spend a number of nights moving between different cities and centers to visit the Egyptian monuments. The Arab Contractors Company manufactures and maintains floating hotels in Massara Shipyard, as it has all the capabilities necessary to build and maintain floating units for major international and Egyptian tourism companies.
