Dr. Assem El Gazzar - Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities inspected Abu Talat Wastewater Project, which includes a wastewater treatment plant, pumping station, network consisting of drainage, gravity lines, and a final wastewater treatment channel. The Construction Authority for Potable Water and Wastewater (CAPW) is carrying out the project. The minister toured the project after inspecting Alexandria East Wastewater Treatment Plant, Sawary Project West Carrefour in Alexandria. The minister was accompanied by the officials of the ministry and utilities sector.
The minister toured the project components and reported on the implementation status of the project. Eng. Ahmed Abdel Qader – Head of the Construction Authority of Potable Water and Wastewater, declared that the project includes a treatment plant with a capacity of 35000m3/day, final wastewater treatment channel, and the main pumping station, which were completed; and there are 2 pumping stations under construction in addition to the construction of 44km out of 121 km networks.
The Minister of Housing emphasized the need to speed up the work rates according to the highest quality while adhering to the time schedule, noting that Abu Talat Wastewater is a turning point for the maritime area, where it aims to extend sewage service to the Abu Talat area starting from Alexandria/Matrouh Road to the Sea. The project will end people's suffering from sanitation problems and water accumulation in the streets of Abu Talat from K21 Bridge to SUMED Company.
