H.E. Mr. Moctar Ahmed Yedali - Minister of Equipment and Transport and Eng. Sayed Farouk – CEO and Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the construction of Nouakchott Tramway Project. This was in the presence of Ambassador Khaled Youssef - Egyptian Ambassador to Mauritania, Consulate General of the Arab Republic of Egypt Mahmoud Bayoumi, Dr. Mohamed Youssef – Board Member of the Arab Contractors Company, Eng. Darem Debsi, Eng. Sayed El-Husseini - Financial Manager of Mauritania Branch, and a number of officials of the Mauritanian Ministry of Equipment and Transport.
The Mauritanian Minister confirmed that the project comes within the framework of the directives of Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould El Ghazouani, and will have a significant and positive impact on preserving the environment by reducing gas emissions and global warming. In addition to these, the project will contribute to facilitating the movement of citizens, the flow of traffic, and the strengthening of the tourism sector in Mauritania.
The Minister explained that the project aims to build 2 lines with a total length of 45 km to link the different areas of Nouakchott.
On the other hand, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Mauritania received Eng. Sayed Farouk – CEO and Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company and the accompanying delegation; during the meeting, the Prime Minister welcomed the company and pointed out that the project has a great importance.
On the sidelines of the visit to Nouakchott City, the Capital of Mauritania, the Chairman and the accompanying delegation met with the Minister of Defense, the Minister of Water and Sanitation, and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Economy to discuss projects of common interest in the coming period.
