Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati witnessed the signing ceremony of the agreement for Tripoli Port development and infrastructure project, implemented by the Arab Contractors Company in the presence of Egyptian Ambassador to Lebanon Yasser Elwi.
The ceremony was attended by Eng. Ali Hamieh - Minister of Public Works and Transport, Eng. Nabil El Jisr - President of the Council for Development and Reconstruction, Mrs. Mai Al Ali - Regional Director of the World Bank, Eng. Bahaa Harb - President of the Syndicate of Engineers in Tripoli and the North, Mr. Ahmed Tamer - Manager of Tripoli Port, Eng. Marwan Qebrosli - Head of the Engineering House, Eng. Sayed Farouk – CEO & Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company and a number of dignitaries.
The agreement for the first phase of the project was signed by Eng. Nabil El Jisr - President of the Council for Development and Reconstruction and Eng. Hazem Abdel Ghaffar – Manager of the Arab Contractors Company Branch in Lebanon, with a value of 27.5 million US$.
The Egyptian Ambassador said in a statement, "Today the contract for the first phase of the development of the port of Tripoli was signed, and this is an Egyptian strategic decision to support Lebanon and put all the Egyptian capabilities at the disposal of the brothers in Lebanon, and we were at the forefront of the call after the explosion of the port of Beirut. We are with you shoulder to shoulder, after we were In Beirut, today we are also in Tripoli, and tomorrow in Akkar and Tyre, and then in the Bekaa and all over Lebanon, and the “Arab Contractors Company”, which is more famous and needs no introduction, will undertake this stage of the development of the Tripoli Port project .
Eng. Nabil El Jisr - President of the Council for Development and Reconstruction announced that "this agreement was signed today, and it will be the fastest agreement to be implemented, and the financial fees will be paid tomorrow, and guarantees will come within ten days to give the direct order as soon as possible and start work before the winter season, and we promised that the work will be completed within two and a half years."
Eng. Sayed Farouk CEO & Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company declared that Tripoli Port Development Project of the Lebanese Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR), which the company won a bid to implement with funding from the Islamic Development Bank amid great competition between 27 companies, consists of the main port building, the public security building, the port administration building, warehouses, garages, a fire station, ground reservoir 1500m3, a pumping station and a ground fuel tank, in addition to a 3.6 km internal road network, 5 km water networks, 10 km sewage, 6 km railway lines, besides the site works, fence and lighting.
Abdel Ghaffar said: "Our company won the tender for the development of the port of Tripoli, which is currently considered one of the most important Lebanese ports, and the project is a complete development and construction of new buildings for customs, administrations, the army and the fire department, meaning all the buildings that will be combined in one place and electronically linked to a central control
