Prime Minister inspects the development works of the Ring Road around Greater Cairo

Madbouly: The government is racing against time to accomplish work on this vital traffic artery. The President gives directions to adhere to the time schedules for expansions and quality of implementation. Transport Minister: Immediate development of each area where utilities relocation is completed. The development work will contribute to raise the service’s level and reducing the travel time for road users and saving the fuel consumption of vehicles. Dr. Mostafa Madbouly - Prime Minister accompanied by Minister of Transport and governors of Qaliobia, Giza and Cairo inspected the comprehensive expansion, development and maintenance works on the Ring Road around Greater Cairo with a length of 106km being carried out in parallel with the with the relocating of utilities and facilities standing in the way of the project. Besides, following up the progress of the measures taken by the Egyptian Survey Authority (ESA) and the governorates of Cairo, Giza and Qaliobia to expropriate the lands and properties situated within the scope of the project. Before the start of his tour, the Prime Minister emphasized that the government is racing against time to accomplish the expansions and development of the Ring Road, as it is a vital traffic artery that links between the governorates of Greater Cairo, contribute to facilitating the movement of citizens and eliminating all traffic jams, within the framework of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directions regarding adherence to the time schedules for the expansion work, and quality of implementation, taking into account the payment of appropriate compensation to the owners of real estate and facilities and the necessity to adhere to the precautionary measures for workers at work sites. He pointed out that periodic follow-up meetings are held to overcome obstacles with the ministries and relevant authorities for the speedy completion of this project. The tour of the Prime Minister and his companions started by the reviewing the implementation works of the area from Saad El Din El Shazly Tunnel to Cairo-Alexandria Agricultural Road. The construction a bridge over the tunnel of Saad El Din El Shazly is completed. A supporting road from Saad El Din El Shazly to El Marg is ongoing, with 3 additional lanes in each direction, and the expansion of all bridges in this area. The Prime Minister inspected the implementation works of El Salam Bridge in El Asher Bus Station. He was received by Eng. Sayed Farouk – President and CEO of the Arab Contractors Company, Eng. Ahmed El Assar – Senior Vice Chairman and Eng. Ibrahim Mabrouk – AC Board Member. The bridge’s length is 1,300m and a width of 30m. The Arab Contractors Company is carrying out the bridge using precast and prestressed beams, which will contribute to eliminate traffic jams in El Salam Tunnel throughout the past period and causing traffic obstruction. This tunnel will be a one way from El Marg to New Cairo and the bridge will be from New Cairo to El Marg. Then, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly and his companions inspected El Marg Bridge which is 1500m length and 14m width and 3 traffic lanes. It will serve the traffic from El Zakat Foundation to Mostorod; it includes 4 inlets and outlets to facilitate traffic exchange with the Ring Road and El Marg Street. The bridge will pass above El Marg wastewater station, El Marg metro station and El Marg territories bus station. The tour included inspecting Mostorod Bridge where a complete new bridge is constructed to the north and south alongside the exist bridge, in addition to a number of inlets and outlets to serve the traffic movement of citizens traveling to Ismailia passing by Mostorod – Belbeis - Ismailia Agriculture Road, or those heading to Mostorod using the same road. The Prime Minister inspected the area from Marriotia to Autostrad with 12 km length. He followed up the expansion works at the top of Omrania water pipeline. Besides, the expansion works of El Moneeb Higher Bridge on the Nile with 1 km length and 8 lanes in each direction instead of 4 lanes. A new bridge will be constructed to the north and south in parallel with the exist bridge. He inspected the development works of the road intersection with Autostrad where the expansion works of the Autostrad Bridge and the inlets and outlets that link between the bridge and Autostrad Road. The Transport Minister emphasized that the road will have 7 lanes in each direction after the completion of the development and expansion works; except El Moneeb Bridge will become 8 lanes in each direction. This project has 136 industrial works which includes 2 bridges on the Nile, 25 bridges at the intersections with the main axes, 46 higher bridges, and 63 tunnels. He pointed out that it is considered the most important traffic axis in Greater Cairo with 213,000 cars daily.
