Eng. Kamel El Wazeer – Minister of Transport continued his inspection tours in number of Upper Egypt governorates to follow up the implementation of projects executed by the ministry. He inspected the implementation rate of Daraw Axis on the Nile River. The project total cost is 1.4 billion EGP and consists of 9 industrial works includes 7 bridges and 2 tunnels.
He was accompanied with Major Gen. Ashraf Attia – Aswan Governor, ministry officials, Eng. Ahmed El Assar – Senior Vice Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company, Eng. Ibrahim Mabrouk – AC Board Member and Eng. Hassan Youssef – Manager of Foundation Department.
The axis is 18km length and 25km width. The minister directed the officials of the Authority for Roads & Bridges to intensify the work to accomplish the project according to the time schedule, especially with the importance of the axis in linking the eastern agricultural road (Cairo-Aswan) up to the western desert road (Cairo-Aswan) Across the Nile and the western agricultural road (Cairo-Aswan) south of Daraw in Aswan. As well as contributing to link development areas at west Nile with the western and eastern desert road with the residential blocks. The axis is connecting the quarries on Balana/ Kalabsha Road in the western agriculture road with Benban Solar Energy Project. Besides, it is serving 1.5 million Feddans project and the agricultural areas west of Kom Ombo.
At the end of his tour, the minister and his companions followed up the implementation of the Alternative Axis for Aswan Reservoir, the company is implementing its second sector with cost of 690 million EGP. It consists of a bridge on the Nile with 671m length, 14 axes and the opening of the navigation is up to 180m length. Its objective to accommodate the traffic between east and west of the Nile which serves the movement of the tourists groups toward Aswan International Airport, Abu Simbel Road, West Soheil Village, High Dam and the International Tropical Park.
The tour was in the presence of Eng. Anas Mohamed El Sagheir – Deputy Manager of Bridges and Specialized Structures Department, the projects managers Eng. Hossam Abdel Qader and Eng. Moustafa Gomaa.
