Dr. Assem El Gazar – Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Khaled Fouda - South Sinai Governor inspects the pilot operation of the Nabq Desalination Plant in Sharm El Sheikh - first phase with total capacity 6000m3/day to serve 20.000 person. This was in the presence of Eng. Khaled Abbass - Deputy Minister of Housing for National Projects, Dr. Sayed Ismail - Deputy Minister of Housing for Infrastructure Affairs, Eng. Inas Samir – Deputy of South Sinai Governor, Major Gen. Ihab Khedr – Head of National Organization for Potable Water & Sanitary Drainage “NOPWASD”, Major Gen. Mahmoud Mansour – Head of Central Agency for Reconstruction, Eng. Mubarak Mansour Mubarak – Head of Canal and Sinai Sector and Eng. Ashraf Ghoneim – Manager of Sinai Branch which implemented the works.
The project scope of work is desalination plant for well water; it comprises wards for desalination, filters, membrane, high pressure pumps; in addition to the buildings of monitoring, operation, administration, warehouse, workers accommodation and security.
18 wells were drilled to feed the water plant with an average depth 140m, 20 wells for the drainage of salty waters with an average depth 90m.
The project includes gravity line to the strategic accumulation tanks, HDPE pipelines with 400mm diameter and 3km length, salty water drainage of HDPE pipelines with 500mm diameter and 1.7km length.
