Dr. Moustafa Madbouli – the Prime Minister inspected the development project of the Nile Corniche which extends from 15 May Bridge to Imbaba “Ahl Misr Walkway on the Nile” to follow up the executive status of the project. Ahmed El Assar – Board Member of the Arab Contractors Company and Eng. Hassan Moustafa – Head of Bridges and Specialized Structures in the AC.
The Prime Minister stated in the beginning of his visit that the government set a comprehensive plan to benefit from the removal of encroachment on the Nile course, which entitled the project of “Ahl Misr Walkway” according to the directions of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. The project is carrying out in cooperation with the concerned ministries and authorities, through the construction of a walkway on the Nile River, an open theater for concerts, within the project of developing the Nile facades from Aswan to Cairo.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the project is considered one of the ambitious projects which will change Cairo’s Face, through regain its cultural image in the areas overlooking the Nile River. Besides, it will increase the share of each person in the green and open areas in these places. It will provide more tourist destinations in accordance with the different international cities which exist on river banks and implemented similar projects to this one.
The Minister of housing explored the executive works for the development project of the Nile Corniche “Ahl Misr Walkway on the Nile” which extends from 15 May Bridge to Imbaba with a length of 8.1km, he emphasized on the development of the project in this area would be an experimental model in preparation for its application in the regions overlooking the Nile in the rest of the cities where the river passes along. He pointed out that the development project of the Nile Corniche extends from 15 May Bridge to Imbaba is including a walkway with sequential levels along the corniche for 4.7km, the average width of the higher walkway is 4.5m, the lower walkway’s average width is 6.5m. He declared that the project includes 19 buildings, 5 restaurants, 5 cafeterias, 56 shops, 3 car parks with total capacity 180 cars, 3 bleachers, a theater with total area 275m2, landscaping works, terraces and fountains.
The Water Resources and Irrigation declared that the development project of the Nile Corniche is within the framework of his assignment to the Institute of the Nile Research Institute (NRI) to prepare an integrated plan to benefit from the removal of encroachment on the Main course of the Nile River and its branches, using it in building parks for the citizens, developing the Nile facades, implementing beautification works for the unexploited lands of irrigation by using it as car parks according to the regulations; consequently there will be an annual return for the government.
