The Minister of Transport, Gen. Kamel El Wazir witnessed the signing of number of related contracts for the Light Rail Train "LRT" in (El Salam – New Administrative Capital – 10th Ramadan City); the maintenance contract for the systems and mobile was signed for 13 years with a total of $110 million.
The contracts of the implementation of the civil works and railways for the project was signed; it will be executed by Egyptian companies among them the Arab Contractors Company with a total cost 461 million US$. The signatories are from the Egyptian signed; Dr. Essam Wali – Head of the National Authority for Tunnels and from the Chinese side the Vice Chairman of China AVIC International. This was in the presence of Eng. Mohsen Salah – CEO and Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company and the chairmen of the participated Egyptian companies in the project implementation.
The Minister of Transport declared that the civil works for the Light Rail Train "LRT" in (El Salam – New Administrative Capital – 10th Ramadan City) started since last May, the work sites were handed over for the companies; the surveying works, designing and soil investigations were began. He pointed out the necessity of working for 24 hours to implement the project according to the time schedule. He is following up the implementation rate daily to accomplish this important project.
It is noteworthy that the length of the Light Rail Train "LRT" is 70 km; it will serve 350.000 passengers/day. Its execution period is 24 months and the mobile units will be delivered within 16 months. The Egyptian contracting companies will carry out all the civil works which includes the construction of stations, bridges, tunnels, installation of railway…etc. China AVIC International will implement the signal, communication and monitoring works, supplying of the contracted 22 trains to be operated in the project after implementation.
The company declared that the speed of the trains after operation reached 120km/hour. The final track includes the following stations respectively: Adly Mansour – Al Obour – Al Mostakbal – Al Shorouk 1 – Al Shorouk 2 – Al Wersh – Badr – El Roubiki – the New Administrative Capital - the Industrial Zone – 10th Ramadan. The LRT track is passing over the Axis of Saad El Din El Shazly through a higher bridge; and passing through it during its intersection with the Axis of Saad El Din El Shazly. Each station is annexed by a car park, the passenger of the LRT may use it until they finish their trip.
