The ministerial economic group, chaired by Prime Minister Hazem el-Beblawi, held a meeting to follow up the implementation of the government's investment plan and public spending program. Prime Minister stressed on the importance of accelerating work at the urgent plan projects.
Therefore, the ministerial economic group decided to order contracting companies, which had been assigned to these projects, to work for 24 hours a day in order to finalize all projects as soon as possible. Besides, the contracting companies have to pay the dues of the subcontractors to be able to execute their works and move forward in their economic activities with high efficiency.
In a related context, the ministerial economic group followed up the efforts made by the government aiming at securing basic commodities. It was emphasized to intensify inspection campaigns by supplying departments during the coming period to control smuggling operations and manipulation.
Concerning the monetary matters, they reviewed the procedures carried out by the Central Bank to maintain the exchange market, and provide the necessary foreign currency to import essential commodities.
