Minister Dr. Ahmed Nazif with the Minister of Construction, Transportation, Planning, Investment, International Cooperation, Cairo and Giza governs and Mr. I. Mahlab, signed the start of the development works for Cairo-Alexandria desert road to the freeway. The Arab Contractors was awarded the tender for the first and second phase with an amount of 450 million EGP. The ceremony took place in the 26th of July 2007.
