The Minister of Environment discusses with the Chairman of the Arab Contractors cooperation in the field of recycling demolition and construction, wood & industrial waste.

Dr. Yasmine Fouad - Minister of Environment, held a meeting with Eng. Ahmed El Assar, Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company, to discuss cooperation in the fields of recycling demolition and construction waste, wood waste, and remanufacturing wooden furniture, as well as ways to benefit from and optimally utilize industrial waste. The meeting also presented the company's experiences in this regard. The meeting was attended by Mr. Yasser Abdullah - Chairman of the Waste Management Regulatory Authority, and Eng. Rehab Yehia – Manager of the Chairman's Office at the Ministry of Environment headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. Dr. Yasmine Fouad - Minister of Environment, explained that the meeting discussed opportunities for cooperation in recycling demolition and construction waste and converting it into products that can be used in the construction sector. She pointed out the need to coordinate and cooperate to explore ways to utilize this waste across the governorates. The Minister of Environment emphasized that we have a clear strategy for recycling all forms and types of waste, and legislation that allows us to handle each type. She noted that the Waste Regulation Law supports private sector participation in the system. The Minister of Environment listened to the experience of the Arab Contractors Company in recycling construction and demolition waste and recycling wood, and using it to manufacture new wooden furniture. Eng. Ahmed El Assar - Chairman of the Arab Contractors, pointed out that the company has made great strides in the field of construction and demolition waste started 3 years ago. The company owns a complete project for this system, including laboratories for testing its remanufacturing into concrete materials, and it also owns the crushers that carry out this work. The Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company added that the company is working on recycling wood waste from its construction sites and converting it into usable wood products, as the company handles the entire manufacturing process in its factories in 10th of Ramadan City, where product models are displayed in a special exhibition at the factory, and are marketed by the company’s employees, whether as office or home furniture. He pointed out that these products are also utilized and used in the company’s projects, stressing that the project aims to benefit from the tons of accumulated wood waste, instead of wasting it and negatively impacting the environment. The Minister of Environment praised the company's experience with this project, stressing the need to provide all forms of support, work to promote and explore the possibility of generalizing and disseminating the experience on a wider scale, and responding to the invitation to visit the company's wood recycling plant in 10th of Ramadan City to see this experience in reality. The Minister directed that all data related to industrial waste be submitted to explore how the company can benefit from it.
