Dr. Mostafa Madbouly - Prime Minister inaugurated Manqabad Overpass Bridge for cars in Assiut. This was in the presence of the Ministers of Housing, Local Development, Agriculture, and Social Solidarity; Major General Dr. Hisham Abu Al Nasr - Governor of Assiut; Eng. Hassan Mustafa – Senior Vice Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company, Eng. Sayed Hassan - AC Executive Board Member, Eng. Yasser Sadek - Head of Assiut and North Upper Egypt Sector and Eng. Mahmoud Younes - Assistant Head of the Upper Egypt and Red Sea Sectors. Madbouly listened to an explanation about the construction of the bridge, which was implemented by the Arab Contractors Company and extends to a total length of 1,900 meters and a width of 17.7 meters, including ( 2 entries and 4 exits). It passes over the railway lines (Cairo - High Dam) and over the waterway of Al Ibrahimia Canal, and serves the village of Manqabad and the neighboring areas, which will contribute to improving the connection between the neighboring villages and centers, reduce traffic congestion on the main roads and contribute to reducing traffic accidents. It is considered one of the projects that support the development movement in rural and high population density areas. Both Eng. Moustafa Abdel Maksoud – the Manager of Assiut Branch executing the works and Eng. Moustafa Ahmed Abdullah – the Project Manager, explained that the bridge works were implemented according to the highest standards to ensure the safety and security of citizens. The bridge includes a steel span 34 meters long, weighing 175 tons, which crosses Al Ibrahimiya Canal and the railway. It was implemented through cooperation between Assiut Branch, the Central Workshops and Factories Department, the Equipment Hiring Department, and the Heavy Transport Department of the Arab Contractors Company. They added that the total length of the piles executed on the bridge is 15,158 meters long, the total quantities of poured reinforced concrete is 23,485 m3, the total of reinforcing steel used is 7,000 tons, the total quantities of steel used for the steel beam is 1,100 tons, and the total quantities of asphalt for the bridge is 36,000 m2.
