Eng. Sherif El Sherbiny - Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities inspected the rehabilitation and upgrading of wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 30,000 m3/day, and the green spaces irrigation system with treated wastewater in 15th of May City, as part of the projects to upgrade the city’s facilities. He was accompanied by officials from the ministry, the New Urban Communities Authority, the Head of the 15th of May City Authority, and the projects. The visit was attended by Eng. Mohamed Elwi – Board Member of the Arab Contractors Company, Eng. Sherif Desouky – AC Executive Board Member and Head of Greater Cairo Sectors, and Eng. Ibrahim Abbas Oraby – Head of Sector and Manager of Helwan Branch. During the visit, the Minister of Housing toured the components of the wastewater treatment plant rehabilitation and upgrading project, the first phase of which has a capacity of 10,000 m3/day and has been completed. Rehabilitation and upgrading works for the second phase is ongoing with a capacity of 20,000 m3/day to preserve the assets and maximize the benefit. The Minister inspected the laboratory located at the plant and followed up on the work progress, stressing the need to ensure strict control and supervision over the plant final product. The Minister of Housing directed to push forward the work on the project to rehabilitate the wastewater treatment plant to put it into service, as part of the plan to develop and improve wastewater services to maximize the benefit from treated wastewater.
