As part of the periodic follow-up, Dr. Essam Khalifa, the Head of the Egyptian General Authority for Shores Protection, visited the Alexandria Coast Protection Project from Bir Masoud to Mahrousa. He was accompanied by Eng. Osama Shawkat – Executive Board Member of the Arab Contractors Company, Eng. Mahmoud Diab - Deputy Manager of the Alexandria Branch, and Eng. Mohamed Fayyad - Projects Manager. The project consists of two breakwaters with a total length of 1600 m to protect the area from the Automobile Club at Bir Masoud to Mahrousa Hotel, using dolomite stones with grades of up to 3 tons and concrete blocks up to 10 tons, besides the reinforcement works with concrete blocks of up to 22 tons to accommodate climate change and acquire a beach area parallel to the aforementioned area. The first phase was completed as visible barriers and is being converted into submersible barriers to achieve the highest protection performance while maintaining the sea view.
