President Abdel Fattah El Sisi conducted an inspection visit on Friday at a number of new axes and roads in East Cairo.
The President inspected various development operations in the Cairo International Airport area, especially Abdel Hamid Badawy Street and its intersection with Autostrad Road – and both were expanded to comprise 6 traffic lanes per direction – extending to Nasr City District.
Sheraton residential area internal roads, including 12 km-long streets, were also expanded and upgraded to decrease traffic congestion across this area and connect it to the main axes.
Hence, utilities network in this area was upgraded; 35-km-long water lines were replaced and renewed, a 2-km-long sewer line was constructed to serve future residential areas, and a rainwater drainage network was built. Additionally, 2 new flyover U-turns on the Autostrad Road were built, each comprising 3 traffic lanes.
During the inspection visit, the President discussed the progress on projects with several officials at work sites, stressing the importance of committing to the set timeframes for completion of the projects.
The President also spoke with a group of citizens, who he passed by during the tour, about their living conditions and listened to their demands.
