Dr. Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa - Minister of Awqaf, Dr. Khaled Anani – Minister of Tourism and Antiquities and Major General Khaled Abdel Aal – Cairo Governor inaugurated Mosque of Imam Al Shafie Project after its restoration and maintenance with total cost 13 million EGP. This was in the presence of Major Gen. Sherief Seif El Din –Prime Minister Consultant for Anti-Corruption, Eng. Gehan Abdel Monaim – Deputy of Cairo Governor for the Southern Area, Eng. Imam Afify – Vice Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company which carried out the restoration works, Eng. Tarek Khedr – Head of Construction Sector and Taha Diab – Manager of Palaces and Monument Restoration Department.
After the inauguration, the prayers listened to the speech of Dr. Mohamed Moukhtar Gomaa – Minister of Awqaf that the restoration of the mosque is a scientific proof that while we are building mosques in new urban communities, we mean the same concern and the most intense with our ancient and historical mosque, especially Mosques of scholars and Al Bayt of our Prophet Mohamed (PBUH). It is the same approach as the Egyptian state is building new universities and cities as well as developing the ancient ones.
The inauguration was in the presence of Eng. Ahmed Osman – Deputy Manager of Palaces and Monument Restoration Department, Eng. Jackleen Samir – Projects Manager in Palaces and Monument Restoration Department, Eng. Diaa El Sayed – Manager of the Technical Office, Eng. Karim Mohamed – Project Manager and Engineers Ahmed Aly and Youmna Mohamed - Technical Office.
It is a noteworthy that the mosque restoration was assigned to the Arab Contractors Company under the supervision of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities due to the bad architectural and structural conditions of the mosque and the deterioration of some elements. The Palaces and Monument Restoration Department and the Engineering Consultancy Sector in cooperation with number of specialized departments in the company executed the restoration works which include the treatment of the foundation, floors, ceilings, wooden sistrum, exterior facades, ornamented ceilings, stucco windows and doors, electrical networks and decorations.
