Eng. Sayed Farook – CEO and President of the Arab Contractors Company and Eng. Emam Afify – Vice Chairman visited Bahr Al Baqr Wastewater Treatment Plant. It is the world largest wastewater treatment plant with productive capacity 5 million m3 /day. The project aims at the reclamation and cultivation of 400000 hectare approximately in Sinai. It is Joint Venture between the Arab Contractors Company and Orascom Construction for the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces.
They were accompanied by Eng. Mofida Allam –Roads Consultant in the AC, Eng. Mohammed El Hosseiny – Member of the Executive Board of the AC, Eng. Mubarak Mansour – Head of Canal and Sinai Sector, Eng. Tarek Khedr – Head of Construction Sector, Eng. Ahmed Gamea – Project Manager and managers of the executing branches and departments of the projects.
Eng. Sayed Farook praised the executed works, the project’s work progress and the performance quality; in addition to, the great consideration with safety. The project has 15 million working hours with zero accident.
The project includes canal of the water intake which should be treated. It extends from Bahr Al Baqr drain, El Salam siphon till the plant. Besides, an outlet canal for the treated water from the treatment plant till Sheikh Jaber Lake. 4 main courses for wastewater treatment and sludge. It includes the pumping building of the water intake – rapid mixing basins – slow mixing basins – sedimentation basins – filters with discs – ozone basins – chloride and treated water tanks. The sludge treating pipelines which comprising: sludge condensing basins – mechanical drying buildings – solar units for sludge drying.
The administrative area which includes the buildings of headquarter – employers – mosque – generators – workshops – chemicals – chloride – ozone; in addition to the interior roads networks and landscaping.
It is a noteworthy that the project is implemented by JV of the Arab Contractors Company and Orascom Construction with contracting value 739 million dollars.
