Eng. Kamel El Wazeer – Minister of Transport announced the pilot operation of LRT (El Salam – New Administrative Capital – 10 Ramadan City) in August 2021 in order to be inaugurated to the public in conjunction with next October victory celebrations.
This was during the Minister’s tour today, in the presence of Dr. Essam Wali – Head of National Authority for Tunnels, authority’s officials, representatives of the executing companies, Eng. Sayed Farouk – CEO and Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company which carrying out the station, AC’s Board Members: Eng. Eman Soliman, Eng. Usama Moustafa and Eng. Ibrahim Mabrouk, Eng. Hassan Moustafa – Head of Bridges and Foundation Sector, Eng. Heba Abul Ella – Deputy Manager of Bridges Department and Eng. Abdel Hay Badawi – Project Manager. The AC is carrying out 3 stations: (Adly Mansour – New Heliopolis – El Roubiki), in addition to a bridge in the New Administrative Capital and a tunnel.
The Minister of Transport emphasized on the Ministry's interest in implementing a road network at the highest level and integrated transportation system linking between Metro, railways, Monorail, LRT and HST to achieve the sustainable development and environmental conservation.
Recently, the National Authority for Tunnels modified the designs of LRT by adding 3 stations in the New Administrative Capital and a station in 10 Ramadan City. Thus, the project length has become 84km instead of 68km. The project extends to comprise the added stations in front of the following locations: Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ in the New Administrative Capital, the Sports City, Military Entity and Shooting Club in the New Administrative Capital and 10 Ramadan City. Thus, the total number of the stations reached 16 stations.
