Lieutenant General Kamel El Wazir – Minister of Transport inspects the final finishing works of Cairo Metro Line 3 – Phase 4. Currently, the operation tests and the final finishing are ongoing to settle the service plan upon the arrival of the required testing equipment and the foreign experts to issue the safety operation certificate especially within the crisis of COVID19. This was in the presence of Dr. Essam Wali - Chairman of the National Authority for Tunnels, officials of the NAT, Eng. Sayed Farouk – Senior Vice Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company, Eng. Eman Soliman and Eng. Ahmed El Assar - AC Board Members, Eng. Osama Moustafa – Manager of JV of the Arab Contractors Company and Orascom Construction, Eng. Ahmed Shawki – Commercial Manager of the JV and Eng. Abdel Hay Badawy – Project Manager. The tour started with the inspection of El Nozha station; the Minister witnessed the ticket offices, the entry and exits gates, the alarm and fire systems and the escalators. The Minister had riding a test locomotive and passed the stations of Hesham Barakat – Qebaa - Omar ibn El Khatab – Haykesteb – Adly Mansour interchange station which is considered a model for Multimodal Transport that it will include CML3, shuttle bus of LRT and the railway of Ain Shams/Suez. The Transport Minister inspected the implementation works for the workshop of CML3, its total area is 65 feddans … it is considered the biggest workshop in Middle East and Africa. It includes a huge garage built upon 20000 which comprises 15 railways; each one of them accommodates 2 trains with a total of 30 trains. The minister emphasized on the importance of the fire alarm system in the workshop, the final finishing should be according to the highest standards and equipped with the latest equipment and instruments. The Minister stressed on the continuation of taking all the necessary precautions procedures to confront the Coronavirus in regard to the continuous sterilization and disinfection of work sites; the inspection of all workers and engineers by the heat detector in various worksites both in the morning and by the end of their working day. Workers and engineers must use antiseptics continuously while providing outstanding medical care for them. He pointed out that the metro projects have a great importance in maximizing the mass transit system inside Greater Cairo. Besides, it is considered one of the main solutions to achieve traffic liquidity and ease the movements of the citizens.
