Within the framework of the continuous follow-up of the metro projects carried out by the Ministry of Transport; on Saturday 29th February 2020 at 7 am the Minister of Transport Lieutenant General Kamel Al Wazir surprised the workers at Maspero station of Cairo Metro Line 3 – Phase 3 which was in the presence of Eng. Sayed Farouk – Senior Vice Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company.
The Minister followed up the giant TBM “Amenhotep” from Maspero to Zamalek. He directed to accelerate the completion of the excavation works according to the time schedule of the project. He stated that the first part extends from Attaba station to Kit Kat station with a length of 5.2km which includes 4 underground stations. Besides, he inspected El Zamalek station which scheduled to receive the TBM on 25th April 2020. Then, he toured Kit Kat station and the concrete beams factory of VINCI Construction which executing the project.
The Minister emphasized during the tour the importance of executing all works according to the highest quality standards, pushing the implementation rates and speed the completion in regard to the importance of Metro project in ease the traffic and the great concern of the Transport Ministry to maximize the system of mass transit. it is noteworthy that CML3 – Phase 3 is 17.7km length, it includes 15 stations and it was divided to 3 parts to accelerate the accomplishment. The first part will be completed by the end of 2021, the second part is scheduled to be inaugurated in 2022 and the third part in 2023. Lieutenant General Kamel Al Wazir in his press statements emphasized on the importance of this phase as it links between Line I in Nasser station and Line II in Attaba and Cairo University stations. He added that the importance of Line III reflects in its linking between East and West Cairo; the cost of its implementation reached about 97 billion EGP and the cost of this phase reached 32.8 billion EGP.
