Lieutenant General Kamel El Wazir – the Minister of Transport was in inspection tour to follow up the implementation rates of the Light Rail Transit “LRT” (El Salam/New Administrative Capital/10th of Ramadan). He hold a meeting in Adly Mansour interchange station with the executing companies for the project, in the presence of Dr. Essam Wali – the Head of the National Authority for Tunnels, Eng. Eman Soliman – Board Member of the Arab Contractors Company, Eng. Ahmed Shawki –Commercial Manager for the JV and Eng. Abdel Hay Badawy – the Project Manager from the Bridges Department of the Arab Contractors Company. At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister emphasized on the importance of the project in facilitating the transportation of the citizens especially in the light of the great concern of the Egyptian government represented by the Ministry of Transportation to maximize the mass transit system whither inside the Greater Cairo or from Cairo to the new cities. Then, he explored the execution status of the stations, bridges, tunnels and the railway crossover. The project is divided into 10 sectors, 6 bridges for trains, 4 bridges for cars, 2 tunnels with a total of 12 stations. The Minister gave his directions towards working all the time and being committed to the defined time schedule. The Transport Minister reviews the plan of Adly Mansour Station which will connect between the end of Cairo Metro Line 3 – Phase 4 and the beginning of the LRT which is considered a model for Multimodal Transport. He added that the station will contribute in exchanging the service between the passengers of East Cairo, El Obour, El Shorouk, Badr, 10th of Ramadan, El Salam, and those from the governorates of Ismailia and Sharqia, Zagazig and Belbis cities. He declared that El Salam area which surrounding the station is considered of the vital area and center for the different means of transportation; therefore the design was concerned about the development of the surrounding area and its planning. There are many car parks in addition to a commercial investing area and green area. He pointed out that the station is considered an expansion of Cairo Metro Line 3 – Phase 4 to link with Cairo Airport. Currently, there is a study for the track and stations’ location.
