Eng. Mohsen Salah – CEO and Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company in inspecting visit to the restoration and documentation project of the Jewish Temple of Eliyahu Hanavi in Alexandria which affiliates to the Ministry of Antiquities. The project is under the supervision of the Engineering Authority for the Armed Forces. He was accompanied by Eng. Hossam El Din El Reefy – Board Member, Eng. Tarek Khedr – Head of the Construction Sector, Eng. Taher El Sherif – Manager of Alexanderia and Delta Region in the Monuments Restoration Department and Eng. Ramadan Sobhi – the Project Manager who declared that the total area of the temple is 4200m, it has two floors: one for men and the other for women, a central library with a high value that most of its components return to the 15th Century.
The temple includes rows of wooden seats accommodates 700 persons, marble boxes for fund-raising for poor and sick Jews, number of offices for the Jewish Community which provide services for the community.
It is noteworthy that the temple was established on 1881, it is a Jewish synagogue. It is located in Nabi Daniel Street in the downtown in Alexandria. It is the most ancient and famous temple in the Middle East, it was built on the ruins of an old temple built in 1354 and was bombed during the French Campaign in Egypt.
