The Culture Minister Dr. Enas Abdel Dayem, on behalf on the Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouli, inaugurated Naguib Mahfouz Museum and Creativity Center. The museum is located at Tkeit Abu El-Dahab, El Gamaliya, Al Azhar district in Cairo. The Minister was accompanied by Dr. Khaled Anany – the Minister of Antiquities, Major General Khaled Abdel Aal – Cairo Governor, and the ceremony was in the presence of a number of the ambassadors from the Arab and foreign countries, Eng. Mohsen Salah – CEO and Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company as the executing company for the project, Eng. Emam Afify – AC Vice Chairman, Eng. Tarek Khedr – Head of Construction Works Sector which carrying out the project's works.
The Culture Minister praised the works of the Arab Contractors Company and its continuous cooperation with the Ministry of Culture. The Minister invited all the Egyptian people, especially the youth and the new generation to visit Naguib Mahfouz Museum and Creativity Center; to acknowledge the life story of one of the prominent figures of the Egyptian soft power. The Minister of Antiquities praised the genius location of the museum and the center which reflects the historical spirit of Egypt which inspired Nobel laureate Naguib Mahfouz with the unique ideas and produced pure Egyptian style of literary works which was the reason to become international. Cairo Governor stated that the museum has a great value and salutes the memory of Naguib Mahfouz who will stay in the hearts and minds of the Egyptian, Arab and Foreign intellectuals. The establishment of Naguib Mahfouz Museum and Creativity Center started in 2016. It consists of two-storey, the first floor has halls for seminars, a visual/sound library, a public library and a library for critical research including the most important researches and studies conducted on the work of Naguib Mahfouz. The second floor includes a pavilion for the medals and certificates obtained by the late writer; and another pavilion for his personal belongings with some papers written in his own handwriting. There is the hall of literature, which includes Naguib Mahfouz’s oeuvre in their old and new versions and the translated works. Besides, there is a cinema hall and other halls carry the names of El Hara – Rethaa – Ahlam El Raheel – Asdaa El Sera – Tagliyat and Nobel.
