Gen. Kamel El Wazir toured Rod El Farg Axis and Thanked the AC Workers

Gen. Kamel El Wazir – Head of the Engineering Authority for the Armed Forces toured Rod El Farg Axis which is executing by the Arab Contractors Company. He thanked the Arab Contractors Company as one of the largest national companies and its significant role in executing mega projects with the Engineering Authority in Egypt besides its projects with the other ministries and authorities, as well as the implementation of various projects in the African continent and Arab countries. He thanked Eng. Mohsen Salah – AC Chairman and all the workers for the great efforts exerted in executing the project; the difficulties and challenges they faced during the implementation and were able to overcome them. He also praised the awareness of the employees of the company and their national sense and the participation in the presidential elections. By the end of the meeting, the Head of the Engineering Authority for the Armed Forces urged them to continue the efforts to complete the remaining works of the project, which includes the cable stayed bridge over the Nile in El Mazallat, describing this part of the project as unprecedented in Egypt because it is the broadest cable stayed bridge worldwide. Besides; he urged them to accomplished works of Al Fattah Al Aleem in the New Administrative Capital. 
Eng. Mohsen Salah said that the project starts from the Teraat Ismailia street through Shubra Al Mazalat and west of the Ring Road in the direction of Alexandria desert road K39 crossing the River Nile, as it passes through the Dulutian Street to connect with the axis of Fangri and Saad Salim Street and Teraat Ismailia to pass from the east to the Ring Road, with a total length 12 km on both sides. He explained that the axis includes 6 outlets and outlets in El Mazallat; and 8 inlets and outlets to connect with the Ring Road and a bridge on the West of the Nile, 400m length, 50m width and 14m height from the surface of the water and the width of the opening of the navigation of 120m, allowing the passage of floating hotels and was established by the system of moving vehicles and a bridge It is the largest bridge in the world, in terms of width, 64m in the middle and the largest navigational slot across the Nile, where the width of the opening of the navigation is up to 300m. Eng. Mohsen stated that the Cable-Stayed Bridge is based on 6 columns (3 columns in the East and the same in the Western side). The columns rise 100 m from the surface of the water and are based on a base of 80 piles with 2m diameter and 46m depth. He pointed out that the height of the pillars in the East side exceeded 50m and the Western side exceeded 50m and that the bridge bears a weight up to 120 tons and he will register the Cable-Stayed bridge in the Guinness World Records for being the world's broadest bridge.
AC Chairman stated that many obstacles were overcome during the implementation, including the utilities diversion in El Mazallat and Al-Warraq Island with high population density. The Engineering Authority has an important role in the work of expropriation and coordination between the different agencies and authorities. About 4000 engineers, technicians and workers with great experience from the different branches and departments of the AC company which participated in this project. For example, the workers under the surface of the River Nile in the piling works and columns base are working for long time. In addition to a large number of equipment about 50 cranes with a capacity up to 600 tons, 27 piling machines, other varied equipment, and two ferries were manufactured by the AC Maasara Shipyard for the project at a cost of 46 million EGP, in addition to other motorboat, ferries and maritime lounges.
