The Minister of
Transport, accompanied by Head of the Roads and Bridges Authority, and Chairman
of the National Authority for Tunnels, inspected the work of Cairo Metro Line 3
– Phase 4b, which consists of 6 overground stations on Gisr El Suez Street,
Next to the El Salam station. CML3 project aims to connect East and West Cairo,
exchange service with the first and second lines through the two stations Gamal
Abdel Nasser and Attaba and link with the New Administrative Capital and the
new cities adjacent to it and reduce the overground traffic of other means of
transport.
The project is to
meet the transport condensed requirements on the third line and the study of
transportation carried out for the Greater Cairo Region. CML3 directions are
from Imbaba and El Mohandseen in the West of the Nile, crossing under the River
Nile to Zamalek Island and then to Attaba Square - Abbasiyah to reach Cairo
International Airport. CML3- Phase 4B ends
with the exchange station Adly Mansour, which connects with the electric train
LRT, which starts from the El Salam City crossing El Shorouk, Badr and Robiki,
to branch out one linking with the new administrative capital and the other
towards the direction of 10th of Ramadan City. It is the First Egyptian Joint
Venture between the Arab Contractors Company(JV Leader)and Orascom for Construction
Company (Partner in the JV) that will execute CML3 – PHASE 4B to benefit from
the acquired experiences through the implementation of the metro and reduce the
dependence on foreign expertise. Signals, Communications, High Voltage Station and
electromechanical equipment will be executed by French companies as
subcontractors under the full supervision of the Egyptian JV. It is noteworthy
that the execution rate status has reached 31% of the total volume of works on
a total area of ??65 feddans and includes 31 buildings varied between concrete
buildings and steel structures which is divided into heavy overhaul workshop
building, light overhaul workshop and other service buildings; the amount of
the ordinary and concrete mix is up to 220000 m? and
rebar 22300 tons and precast beams numbers is more than 600 km with average length
30m, monopiles with diameter 204m and
length up to 40m to avoid obstacles and facilities at the work site; and using of
slip forms for easy casting from high
heights, fast implementation, facilitate movement under the slip forms and avoid
obstructing the traffic.
