Prime Minister praises the huge road boom in 6th October City… It contributes to facilitate the transport of citizens and goods


Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouli, Dr. Assem El Gazar – Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Major Gen. Ahmed Rashid – Giza Governor, senior officials at the Housing Ministry inspected the roads and axes development projects in 6th October City.
There were accompanied by Eng. Sayed Farouk – CEO and President of the Arab Contractors Company, Eng. Ahmed El Assar - Senior Vice Chairman, Eng. Tarek Sakr and Ibrahim Mabrouk – AC Board Members.
Dr. Mostafa Madbouli praised the huge boom of road projects in the 6th October City will contribute to facilitating the transportation of citizens and goods, saving time and fuel and offering arteries to achieve development.
El Gazar said that within the ministry concern with the development of the new cities, 6th October City gained several national projects, such as: Middle Ring Road 30km length. It is aiming at the development within the industrial residential interval range. It is width varied from 56m to 82m instead of 30m. It will consist of 4 main lanes and 2 service lanes.
Dr. Assem pointed out that the Middle Ring Road comprises 2 sectors. The 1st sector extends from the intersection of Oasis Road to El Fayoum Road. Its objective to develop, expand and build main and supporting road for the 2 directions. It is 16km length and 82 km width. Each direction has main and trucks track. The second sector will link Oasis road with the end of the green belt of 6th October City.
The Housing Minister explored the Oases Road; it extends from El Fayoum to New 6th October City. It is 30km length, 4 main lanes and 3 supporting traffic lanes for each direction. Its objective is to develop the main road and implement a sustaining road with 3 traffic lanes 16.75m width. It accommodates the route of BRT, increase the traffic efficiency. Its total value reached 2 billion EGP. It is expected to be accomplished by the end of the next February.
In addition to El Kafrawy Axis that links between El Hosary Square and Vodafone Square. It includes 3 traffic lanes, pedestrian and people of determination (special needs) pavements, waiting area to facilitate traffic in the services lanes and interest with the central island's greenery to add the esthetic form to the road. Its implementation value reached 166 million EGP.
Regarding Gamal Abdel Nasser Road, the Minister explained that its length is 14km, 2 directions with 12m width, 3 lanes on each direction, linking between Al Obour Road till the end of the Industrial Zone and the Middle Ring Road. It was equipped with the guidance and warning signs; planning of bumps, partitions and interlocks. Its implementation value is 166 million EGP.
Dr. Assem El Gazar stated that the Central Axis is one of the main axes in the city. It links between 26 July Axis and the Industrial Zone. The development and increasing the efficiency of the linking part between Al Hosary Square and the Middle Ring Road with 6km length. The development works include increasing the greenery, waiting area parallel to the road, pedestrian pavement to serve the citizens putting in consideration people of determination (special needs), bicycle lane, increasing the efficiency of the traffic lanes (Asphalt), rain drain, public toilet, installation of ornaments and decoration for poles, traffic and guidance signs, traffic ground planning and reflectors. The implementation value of the project reached 53 million EGP.
Eng. Sherif El Sherbini – Head of 6th October City pointed out that the Regional Transportation Center is located at the industrial residential interval and serves the districts through the Middle Ring Road. It was built upon 62.000m2 with a construction cost of 103.5 million EGP. It consists of an administrative building, mall, cafeteria, park canopy for people, parking areas for (buses, cars, mini-buses “internally and among governorates”), car services center, mosque, security rooms, driver lounge and ticketing office. The project aims at easing traffic pressure on the city's main axes.
Dr. Assem El Gazar stated that this continuous development of 6th October City utilities comes within Ministry of Housing’s keenness to provide a good environment for the inhabitants.
