    President El Sisi inspects Rod El Farag Axis in the wee hours in preparation of inauguration

    President Abdel Fattah El Sisi inspected in the wee hours of Sunday April 14, 2019 Rod El Farag Axis; he installed the last slab of the cable stayed bridge which executed by the Arab Contractors Company under the supervision of the Engineering Authority for the Armed Forces as part of the Rod El Farag Axis - Second Phase; in preparation for its inauguration soon. The project is considered one of the most important projects of the national network for roads to transport traffic congestion from east of Cairo to Alexandria desert road, Matrouh and El Alamein without passing the heart of Cairo. This was in the presence of Dr. Moustafa Madboul- the Prime Minister, the ministers of defence – military production – transport-housing, a number of ministers and VIPs, Major Gen. Ehab El Far – Head of the Engineering Authority for the Armed Forces, Eng. Mohsen Salah - Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company, Eng. Sayed Farouk – Senior Vice Chairman of the AC, Eng. Emam Afify – AC Vice Chairman, Eng. Ahmed El Assar – AC Board Member, Eng. Mofida Allam – the Roads Consultant in the AC and Supervisor of the Laboratory Sector and a number of the project's leaders. Eng. Mohsen Salah declared that this phase starts from Teraat Ismailia street through Shubra Al Mazalat till the west of the Ring Road in the direction of Alexandria desert road K39 with a total length 16.7 km on both sides, as it passes through the Dulutian Street to connect with the axis of Fangri, Saad Salim Street and Teraat Ismailia to pass from the East to the Ring Road. The project includes 8 outlets and inlets in El Mazalat; and 8 inlets and outlets to connect with the Ring Road. AC Chairman pointed out that the Eastern Nile Bridge – (the Cable Stayed Bridge) – "East Tahya Misr Bridge" which President El Sisi laid its final slab is considered the First Egyptian Project and the First cable stayed bridge with that hugeness and fully carried out by 100% Egyptian companies. The bridge will be recorded in the Guinness World Records in terms of breadth. It consists of two main towers with 100m height above the water level to install huge cables weighing up to a thousand tons to carry the body of the bridge. It is connecting between El Warraq Island and Shoubra. Eng. Salah declared that it is considered the largest cable stayed bridge in the world, with a width of 66.8 in the middle, 540m length. It includes the largest navigational slot across the Nile, where the width of the opening of the navigation is up to 300m and 14m above the level of the River Nile to facilitate the riverine movement and the easy crossing of the largest ships. It is based on 6 columns: 3 columns in the East and the same in the Western side. The columns rise 100 m from the water level and on a base of 80 piles with 2m diameter and 46m depth. The bridge capacity is up to 120 tons, The Bridge’s width at Shubra reached 84m and the corridor’s load is about 120 tons, and huge cables is hanged on columns with a weight up to 1500 tons come out of it to carry the bridge on the model of 6 October Suspension Bridge in Ghamra. Eng. Ahmed El Assar stated that this phase includes the construction of bridge on the West of the Nile, 400m length, 50m width and 14m height from the surface of the water and the width of the opening of the navigation of 120m, allowing the passage of floating hotels and was established by the system of moving vehicles. A number of obstacles were overcome during the implementation, including the utilities diversion in El Mazallat and Gizeret Al Warraq Island with a high population density. The Engineering Authority has a huge and an important role in the expropriation works and coordination between the different authorities. Eng. El Assar declared that there are 4000 engineers, technicians, highly skilled workers from different branches and departments, the workers specialization varied between piling works, columns bases workers whom work under the river surface. In addition to a huge amount of equipment, more than 50 cranes with different capacity up to 600ton and 27 piling machines, 2 ferryboats specially manufactured in Maasara Shipyard of the AC  with a total cost 46 million EGP, in addition to motorboats and marine rooms.
